Our tailored catch-up groups are designed to support your child’s success with regards to their foundational understanding of English and Maths. Having first-hand experience of the teaching profession, we are uniquely equipped to address the gaps in knowledge that have arisen out of recent school closures. Our catch-up groups are specifically targeted for primary aged children who would benefit from consolidation activities related to their key stage year group, with a view to breach the gaps in attainment and improve their opportunities of academic success.
The catch-up courses are divided into key stages and will take place over a 10-week course during term time. Our highly comprehensive online courses will consist of small group sessions of up to 6 children and will cover a range of fundamental aspects of the English and mathematics curriculum. This bespoke service has been designed to support your child to build upon their prior knowledge and accelerate their overall progress.
Throughout the course, your child will be encouraged to participate and complete a tailored curriculum and be provided with their own workbook, suitable for their key stage expectations. Eden Tutors tailored English course is aimed at key stage 1 learners. Over the 10 weeks, children will delve into the national curriculum objectives to support their learning journey. The English sessions are ideal for learners who are beginning to consolidate their understanding of phonics, early reading and writing skills. Throughout the course, children will develop confidence in their phonics sounds, reading and writing simple sentences with other children of a similar level and age group. In a small and friendly group setting, children will be encouraged to use a range of punctuation to produce coherent sentences, including capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Children will build upon their prior knowledge to sound and blend unfamiliar printed words accurately. Students will also develop the skill of blending the sounds into words for reading and establish the habit of applying this skill whenever they encounter new words. Accordingly, students will hear, share and discuss a wide range of high-quality texts to develop a love of reading and broaden their vocabulary.

Eden Tutors tailored mathematics course is aimed at key stage 1 learners. Over the 10 weeks, children will delve into the national curriculum objectives to support their learning journey. The course tutor will regularly assess students progress so that they can build upon prior knowledge and become secure with number facts and basic operations. Mathematics sessions are aimed at learners who would benefit from reviewing their basic number skills, including number formation, number bonds to 20 and operational skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Throughout the course, your child will develop confidence in their understanding of number skills, with a view to begin applying their knowledge to word problems and mathematics within a wider context. In a small and friendly group setting, children will learn to read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (–) and equals (=) signs and learn how to solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using pictorial representations and missing number problems. Children will also be introduced to a range of mathematical vocabulary, supporting students to provide reasoning for their answers.

Eden Tutors tailored English catch-up group is aimed at key stage 2 learners who are beginning to consolidate their understanding of reading comprehension, written and grammatical skills. Over the 10-week course, your child will develop confidence in their reading comprehension through being introduced to a variety of fiction and non- fiction texts, that are directed towards developing their vocabulary and the breadth and depth of their reading, making sure that they become independent, fluent and enthusiastic readers. In a small and friendly group setting, children will be involved in discussions where they learn to justify their views about what they have read and can make inferences about the future. Children will also consolidate their writing skills and stamina; grammatical knowledge; their grasp of sentence structure and their knowledge of linguistic terminology. Teaching children to develop as writers involves teaching them to enhance the effectiveness of what they write, as well as increasing their competence. Accordingly, children will have the the opportunity to practise their handwriting skills by writing down their ideas with accuracy and include good sentence punctuation.

Eden Tutors tailored mathematics catch up group is aimed at key stage 2 learners who would benefit from consolidating their number skills up to 1000. Our courses are led by highly engaging and experienced tutors and will provide children with the opportunity to develop upon their skills learnt in key stage 1. The course tutor will regularly assess students progress so that they can build upon prior knowledge and become secure with number facts, basic operations and measurement. In a small and friendly group setting, pupils will develop their fluency with whole numbers and the four operations, including number facts and the concept of place value. This will support pupils to develop efficient written and mental methods and perform calculations accurately with increasingly large whole numbers. Pupils will develop their ability to solve a range of problems, including simple fractions and develop their mathematical reasoning skills.
