Eden Tutors, offer 10-week courses that enable students to prepare for their 11+ English and 11+ mathematics entrance examinations. These courses are meticulously planned and will offer your child the opportunity to practise the entrance exam papers, identifying their strengths and areas for development.
The English preparation course consists of written, reading and vocabulary exercises to enhance your child’s academic success. Throughout the course, your child will have the opportunity to practise and enhance their vocabulary. Your child’s course tutor will endeavour to integrate interactive elements within the lesson, keeping the learning material engaging and fast paced. We believe that children thrive when provided with positive feedback and constructive next steps to succeed within their learning.
Eden Tutors 11+ mathematics sessions focus on a range of mathematical topics, including statistics, measurement, algebra and the consolidation of number skills. Our courses are designed to build upon prior knowledge, whilst providing opportunities to reflect on previous learning. Within the 11+ English and mathematics courses, your child will be provided with a tailored workbook to guide them throughout the course and provide a personalised approach towards developing confidence within the 11+ examinations.

Course Contents:
- Develop reading comprehension skills such as scanning the text for information and answer higher order questioning using Blooms taxonomy.
- Consolidate understanding of a range of grammatical terms aimed at Key Stage 2 learners.
- Read a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts with a focus on developing vocabulary.
- Explore and develop an understanding of challenging vocabulary.
- Identify a range of synonyms and antonyms and apply these in writing.
- Develop confidence when planning written tasks.
- Practise using a range of literacy skills to write an excellent story.
- Review fiction and non-fiction writing styles, including key features.
- Explore different sentence types such as simple, compound and complex sentences.
- Develop confidence with the organisation of written texts, including paragraphs, headings and subheadings.
- Review challenging spellings and develop accuracy when writing advanced vocabulary.
Eden Tutors tailored 11+ starter course will give your child the opportunity to practise their reading comprehension, grammatical and written skills. Our 11+ courses are led by highly engaging and experienced tutors and over the 10-weeks, your child will focus on developing their knowledge of being able to accurately find answers within a text and build upon their inferential reading skills. Your child will also learn how to review grammatical terms that commonly arise within the 11+ examinations and enhance their written and creative writing skills to support them with the written elements of the 11+ entrance papers. The 11+ courses have been specifically designed to develop your child’s confidence. In a small and friendly group setting, your child will fine-tune their comprehension and creative writing skills, with a variety of mock questions from practice papers, ensuring they feel confident to sit their examination!

Mathematics Group Tuition
Course Description: Mathematics

Course Contents:
- Consolidate number skills such as addition and subtraction up to 5 digit numbers and multiplication and division up to the 12 times table.
- Review short and long division methods.
- Review short and long multiplication strategies.
- Introduce basic statistics skills, including mean, median, mode and range.
- Explore factors, multiples, square numbers including highest common factors and least common multiples.
- Develop confidence with fractions, percentages and decimals.
- Practise finding a fraction of an amount, equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions and multiplying and dividing fractions.
- Practise finding a percentage of an amount.
- Begin to convert fractions, percentages and decimals.
- Develop confidence with problem solving, including two step and multiple step word problems.
- Consolidate understanding of shape and measurement including 2D and 3D shapes and nets, measurement and conversions.
Eden Tutors tailored 11+ starter course will give your child an opportunity to practise their number, shape and measurement skills. Led by highly engaging and experienced tutors, this course will focus on your child’s numerical reasoning skills, as well as consolidating their previous mathematics learning. Over the 10 weeks, your child will cover a wide variety of concepts and questions that frequently appear within the 11+ mathematics entrance examinations. Children will learn how to tackle these questions within worded problems. Problem solving quite often features as a section of its own in the 11+ examinations and pupils will put their skills into practice by learning how to deconstruct questions which are based on real life. In a small and friendly group setting, your child will fine-tune their mathematics skills, ensuring they feel confident to sit their examination!
